What’s a birthday without cake?

For every slice of birthday cake, $1 will go to FIG, a grassroots collective cultivating an equitable and sustainable food future for New York. Available for dinner at As You Are, July 23 through summer’s end.

About FIG

FIG is a grassroots collective of people working to transform the food system from within. FIG stewards, supports, and connects equitable and sustainable food work across New York / Lenapehoking, with collaborations beyond. The donation will go towards FIG’s Food Security Program (FSP), an initiative that evolved out of emergency food relief during the pandemic, and has now served tens of thousands of meals and bags of groceries — while working to upend the asymmetrical structures around us, and build the community controlled food systems we need.
In collaboration with community partners Colectivo Intercultural TRANSgrediendo and Black Trans Liberation, farm partners Brooklyn Grange and Rock Steady Farm, independent food businesses Pixie Scout and 1:1 Foods, plus grassroots organizers, volunteers and donors, FIG FSP delivers fresh produce and prepared meals to meet folx immediate survival needs — while building infrastructure, cultivating relationship, and redistributing resources and power toward real food sovereignty.
