NYC\, NuevaYorkinos\, MoCADA for an evening celebrating the stories\, sounds\, and traditions that shape New York’s Latine\, Caribbean\, and African diasporic communities. \nThe night begins with a conversation on cultural memory\, community archives\, and the role of institutions in preserving the histories of New York. Moderated by Jeary Payne\, Associate Educator at The Met\, the panel features Djali Brown-Cepeda\, Founder and Curator of NuevaYorkinos\, and Amy Andrieux\, Executive Director and Chief Curator of MoCADA. \nFollowing the conversation\, the evening continues with domino games\, a community installation\, and music by Lobby resident DJ WOOF and MAMICANA. \nAbout NuevaYorkinos \nNuevaYorkinos is a digital project dedicated to documenting and preserving New York City’s Latine and Caribbean culture and history through family photographs and personal stories. The counter-archive empowers participants to tell their own stories as an act of self-determination and liberation. \nAbout Capicu! NYC \nCapicu! NYC is a party and lifestyle brand inspired by the spirit of old Nueva Yol.
