The Gallery – GBA’s Extended Family with Duvernay Collective
- 8:00 am - 11:59 pm | Sunday April 09, 2023
- Gallery | Ace Hotel Brooklyn
Around the corner and down Bond St., our neighbors Guilty By Association are building a digital bridge to empower the creative unseen, redistribute wealth and reengineer an antiquated system — art.
This season, we are partnering with GBA for a trio of solo exhibitions featuring a selection of their artist kin. We’re calling it “Extended Family.”
GBA and Ace Hotel Brooklyn’s “Extended Family” exhibition series culminates with a life-sized labor of love, a hand beaded wall tapestry by Duvernay Collective. The ten foot by eight foot work depicts flora and fauna in the swamp land of Louisiana and assembled piece by piece onsite over 24 hours in the Ace Hotel loft suite.
Exhibition: March 3 – April 28
Opening Party: March 21
If you are interested in purchasing or commissioning any of the artworks, head on over to gba.family.
About
Hailing from New Orleans, Charles DuVernay is a member of the Monogram Hunters, one of over forty tribes practicing Black Masking Indian culture. GBA dropped the collective’s debut collection of wall works in Fall 2022 and will house their follow up collection at 197 Bond St from March 21 ‘til the end of the month. “Swamp Party ” at Ace Hotel Brooklyn is the collection’s largest work and dynamic centerpiece.
