- Free
This Friday, BGLV takes over the Lobby for DELUXE EDITION: a night of record shopping with New York Penn, and music by DJ Kendollaz and Quiinnette.
Black Girls Love Vinyl (BGLV) is a vibrant movement that celebrates the intersection of black culture, music and preserving the art and love of collecting vinyl, with a special focus on empowering Black women and girls. Founded in response to the underrepresentation in the vinyl community, BGLV has grown from a simple picture with Solange’s A Seat at the Table vinyl into a thriving organization. It unites music lovers, collectors and cultural enthusiasts through curated events, educational Collective meetups and music preservation projects.
A signature initiative of BGLV is the DELUXE EDITION, an all-vinyl DJ set series that highlights curated vinyl mixes honoring the legacy of music across various genres. As part of this immersive experience, BGLV will feature the Pop-Up Record Shop, showcasing a specially curated crate of vinyl treasures collected over the years. These rare and iconic albums span genres and eras, offering attendees a unique connection to the stories and histories that have shaped music culture.
The BGLV Pop-Up Record Shop is an exciting addition to the DELUXE EDITION vinyl set series, offering a unique, hands-on experience for attendees. This pop-up will feature a specially curated crate filled with gems collected and treasured over the years, handpicked to represent the rich and diverse history of the culture of music.
Each record in the collection tells its own story, offering rare finds, iconic albums, and timeless tracks that span genres and eras. The pop-up aims to create an interactive space where vinyl enthusiasts can explore, discover, and connect with music that has shaped both culture and identity. By integrating this curated crate into the DELUXE EDITION series, BGLV brings its mission of cultural preservation and musical storytelling to life, blending history with a modern appreciation for vinyl collecting.
