2023年9月より始まったプロジェクト『Kyoto Book Swap』は、Book Swap（ブックスワップ）や Free Library（フリーライブラリー）を通じて、人と本、人と人を繋げることをミッションとしています。
4月20日(日）1F ロビー | ギャラリースペースでは、2回目となる「Book Swap (ブックスワップ）」を開催。
旅行者でも、地元の方でも、バックグラウンドや言語を問わない読書好きのコミュニティのために、著者やタイトル、殿堂入り、ニッチ、新刊など、情報交換ができる場所を提供します。交換したい本を持参して、ぜひお気軽にお立ち寄りください。
4月18日（金）から27日（日）まで、ロビーにFree Library（フリーライブラリー：無人図書館）を設置。
Free Library（フリーライブラリー）とは世界各地に設置されている、気軽に立ち寄れる自由利用図書館です。
そこでは、読み終えた本を寄付したり、代わりに読みたい本を無料で持ち帰ることができます。正式な図書館と違い、本を登録する必要はありませんし、返却する義務もありません。
唯一の決まりは、「一冊を持ち帰る代わりに、一冊を置いていくこと」です。27日までに収集した本は祇園にあるKyoto Book Swap主催 Free Library（フリーライブラリー）へ寄贈します。
The project “Kyoto Book Swap”, which started in September 2023, aims to connect people with books, and readers with each other, through initiatives like Book Swap events and free libraries. Whether you are a traveler or a local, this community welcomes book lovers from all backgrounds and languages. It offers a space where people can exchange information about authors, titles, bestsellers, niche works, and new releases. This time, we are expanding the space and holding the event at the lobby gallery of Ace Hotel Kyoto.
From Friday, April 18, to Sunday, April 27, we’re setting up a Free Library in the lobby—a take-one, leave-one library where books are always in motion. Drop off a book you’ve finished, pick up a new read, and keep the cycle going. No checkouts, no due dates—just the simple joy of sharing stories.
All books collected by April 27 will be donated to the Kyoto Book Swap Free Library in Gion, keeping the spirit of book exchange alive.
Swing by, swap a book, and stay awhile.
Kyoto Book Swap (KBS) is a project started by Mayuko Nakamura in September 2023.
It continues to grow with the support of friends and others in the community.
The KBS initiative aims to celebrate a love of books by bringing readers together and promoting neighborly book exchange.
In addition to book swap events, KBS plans to install several free libraries throughout Kyoto.
A free library is an unmanned public bookcase, typically outdoors, where people can donate and
swap books anytime and at no cost.
