Mr. Takashi Matsumoto — a figure indispensable to any discussion of the Japanese music scene — will host a one-day talk session in the lobby of Ace Hotel Kyoto, exploring the theme of “The City and Music.”

日本の音楽シーンを語る上で欠かせない存在、松本隆氏が、エースホテル京都のロビーにて一日限りのトークセッションを開催。「まちと音楽」をテーマに、軽やかに語られるトークセッション。

 

Takashi Matsumoto

Born in 1949 in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo. In 1969, he formed Happy End with Haruomi Hosono, Eiichi Ohtaki, and Shigeru Suzuki, serving as the drummer and lyricist, helping lay the foundations of Japanese rock. After the band disbanded, he continued his career as a lyricist. He has written lyrics for over 2,100 songs, playing a key role in the golden age of Japanese pop music, producing numerous hits including Akai Sweet Pea, Momen no Handkerchief, and Ruby no Yubiwa. This year marks the 55th anniversary of his career as a lyricist.

松本隆(まつもと・たかし)

昭和24年、東京・南青山生まれ。44年に細野晴臣、大瀧詠一、鈴木茂と「はっぴいえんど」を結成しドラムと作詞を担当、日本のロックの礎を築く。解散後は作詞家として活動。作詞提供曲は2100曲以上、歌謡曲黄金時代の立役者で「赤いスイートピー」「木綿のハンカチーフ」「ルビーの指環」など数々のヒットを生む。今年、作詞家活動55周年を迎えた。
