Slow Series w Donoma Studios

京都を拠点に活動するDONOMA Studioの斉藤アンドリューをお迎えし、初の陶芸ワークショップを開催します。

アンドリューは台湾で陶芸に出会い、その後ドイツから京都へと旅を続け、環境に配慮したクラフト作りを追求してきました。彼の作品は、工業やキッチンから出る廃棄物を灰にし、それを釉薬にして再利用することで、資源や鉱物のサイクルを大切にしています。

2023年からはDONOMA Studioを運営し、カジュアルな食器の制作やワークショップを開催しながら、カフェやレストランとのコラボレーションも行っています。

今回の「スローシリーズ」では、粘土の特性や自然の資源循環に触れながら、創作を楽しんでいただけます。山から採れる黒、茶、赤、黄、灰色、白といった自然の色の土を使い、それぞれの色が持つ風合いを感じてみましょう。

DONOMAでは、ろくろで削った粘土の切れ端を再利用し、新しい形に生まれ変わらせます。通常は廃棄されてしまうこれらの粘土の端材を白土と混ぜ、大地の層のようなマーブル模様を作り出します。独自の練り技術と積層技法を使って、世界に一つだけのお皿を作ってみませんか？

※作品はワークショップ終了後、乾燥・施釉・焼成を経て、約1か月半後にお届けします。

We’re beyond excited to welcome Kyoto-based DONOMA Studio’s Andrew Saito for our very first pottery workshop.

After discovering pottery in Taiwan, Andrew went on a journey from Germany to Kyoto, exploring eco-friendly craft processes. He’s all about turning industrial and kitchen food waste into ash, which he then transforms into glaze for his pottery—celebrating the endless cycle of minerals and resources. 

Since 2023, Andrew has been running DONOMA Studio, where he crafts a casual tableware line, leads hands-on workshops, and collaborates with cafes and restaurants.

The Slow Series workshop dives deep into the nature of clay and the cycle of resources.

From the mountains, we’ll use soil in a variety of colors—black, brown, red, yellow, gray, and white—all reflecting nature’s own palette. 

At DONOMA, clay scraps are given a second life. Trimmings from the wheel, often overlooked and left unused, are repurposed in this workshop. We’ll mix these scraps with white clay to create marbled patterns that echo the layers of the earth. Through unique kneading and layering techniques, you’ll craft your own one-of-a-kind plate. 

*Note: After the workshop, your pieces will be dried, glazed, and fired. Finished pieces will be shipped around a month and a half later.
