St. John at As You Are

  • 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm | Tuesday March 14, 2023
  • As You Are | Ace Hotel Brooklyn
  • 252 SCHERMERHORN Street

Since its opening by Fergus Henderson and Trevor Gulliver in 1994, London’s legendary St JOHN has influenced generations of chefs and restaurateurs, and helped redefine not only British cuisine, but the way all of us eat. When we think of phrases like “farm-to-table” and “nose-to-tail,” we have pioneers like St. JOHN to thank. St. JOHN is also the epitome of the as you are spirit – be true to who you are, honor the history that helped get you here today and now set a big table and welcome everyone to join in for a good time.

As You Are is honored to welcome St. JOHN’s Chef Director Jonathan Woolway and his team into our dining room for a limited menu run. Collaborating with Executive Chef Michael King and Pastry Chef Danny Alvarez, Chef Jonathan is sharing a selection of his favorite St. JOHN dishes with our As You Are family. During dinner from March 7-22, you’ll be able to feast on classics such as Ox Cheek-and-Pickled Walnut Pie. Over at our bakery, you can snag St. JOHN Madeleines by the dozen or half dozen. The St. JOHN specials can be ordered a la carte, or as a three-course tasting for $80. (As You Are will still offer its regular dinner menu in addition to these special dishes.)

Reservations are highly encouraged, and can be booked at https://www.asyouarebk.com

Luck Comes Before Love – Sarah Nsikak in The Gallery at Gallery

Drawing from African proverbs and idioms, Nsikak borrows romance folkloric imagery from the many cultures she calls home. Using her material of choice, recycled fiber, her installation is a sensory experience, a quiet invitation which urges loud questions – chief amongst them: How can black women reclaim a softness they have been refused?   About:  Sarah Nsikak is a Nigerian-American artist and designer living the Hudson Valley of New York and working out of her Brooklyn studio. She is the…

This season, we are partnering with GBA for a trio of solo exhibitions featuring a selection of their artist kin. We’re calling it “Extended Family.”   GBA and Ace Hotel Brooklyn’s “Extended Family” exhibition series culminates with a life-sized labor of love, a hand beaded wall tapestry by Duvernay Collective. The…
