a delicious gathering at the intersections of food, arts, and culture.

Tables of Contents is a home for significant, surprising, and delicious gatherings at the intersections of food, arts, and culture. Their monthly reading series uses food to catalyze connections and conversations between individuals via the vulnerability of the table, while highlighting and championing the diverse literary voices creating our contemporary canon.

October’s Tables of Contents reading at Ace Hotel Brooklyn is presented in partnership with The Center for Fiction, and will feature readings from Kayla Maiuri (Mother In the Dark), Kirstin Chen (Counterfeit), and Lucy Ives (Life is Everywhere).

Chef Evan Hanczor will create bites paired with each author’s reading, and will facilitate a conversation among the authors that will dig into cooking, writing, and the creative process.

About the authors:

Kayla Maiuri holds an MFA in fiction writing from Columbia University. Born in the greater Boston area, she now lives in Brooklyn. Mother in the Dark is her first novel.

Kristin Chen is the New York Times best-selling author of three novels. Her latest, Counterfeit, is a Reese Witherspoon book club pick, a Roxane Gay book club pick, and a New York Times Editors’ Choice. It has also been recommended by The Washington Post, People Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, Vogue, Time, Oprah Daily, Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping, Parade, and more.

Lucy Ives is the author of two novels: *Impossible Views of the World* (2017) and *Loudermilk: Or, The Real Poet; Or, The Origin of the World* (2019).
