A determined gust of wind sweeps through the house, sending ribbons fluttering like whispers of an unseen story. They wrap around tables and shelves, weaving through glutinous pieces of bread, while in the distance, a single ribbon ties itself delicately into a bow—a fleeting moment of unnoticed content.
In “The House, It’s Dreaming!”, Lina Sun Park transforms quotidian materials into quietly grand sculptures, elevating the overlooked to new heights of reverence and intimacy. Humble crackers rest on tiny thrones, bread becomes a beribboned centerpiece, and doilies take on a life of their own, delicately arranged atop found furniture. These temporal works, while small in scale, invite viewers to pause, lean in, and appreciate their quiet majesty during their brief existence.
Each sculpture is imbued with a dream—one on the verge of coming true, one slipping away, and another just beginning to form. Through her intricate tableaux, Park creates a dialogue between the ephemeral and the enduring, asking us to reflect on the fragility and beauty of the everyday.
Join us for the opening event on December 11th, 7-9pm. The exhibition will be on view December 2024–February 2025.

Lina Sun Park, a multidisciplinary artist living in New York, intervenes in everyday objects to create uncanny tableaux. Combining textiles like lace and ribbon with items of personal significance and perishables like fruit, bread, cheese, her work balances the quotidian and the fantastical to otherworldly effect.
Byline, the culture magazine at the forefront of new media in New York, was conceived of as a place for contributors to be themselves. It was founded in 2023 by editors Gutes Guterman and Megan O’Sullivan, who have chosen the theme “art as play” for their curatorial throughline, presenting four artists for their insights into this paradox of pleasure and productivity.
Ace Artist in Residence program, curated in partnership with collectives and institutions that inspire us, provides time to think and space to create. Every quarter, we invite artists across the globe to turn one of our hotel rooms into their studio for a month, then showcase the resulting body of work with the Ace community.
