Tools For Care

  • 6:30 pm - 6:30 pm | Tuesday December 13, 2022
  • Form | Ace Hotel Toronto
  • 51 Camden St

Led by Renelyn Quinicot (she/her) a cis-queer Filipina artist, and movement and meditation guide, born and raised as a settler to Tkaronto.

The practice of mindfulness is the practice of remembering. Remembering the inherent wisdom of our own bodies to be able to care for and support us. Remembering who we are beyond the capitalist and colonial structures of conditioning. Over 4 bi-weekly sessions, we will gather in community to learn various meditation and movement techniques to support us for the everyday. Each session will end in a chance to journal, and connect in shared discussion. We will root this journey of Self-exploration, and -nurture in collective readings of relevant texts such as, “Who is Wellness For” by Fariha Roisin and “My Grandmother’s Hands” by Resmaa Menakem.

This event can be attended as a full 4-session series, or through a single drop-in.

This series is free, and open to all with an optional chance to leave a PWYC donation. All donation proceeds will go to The Healing in Colour Society and their efforts toward the healing and liberation of BIPOC by increasing access to anti-oppressive therapy and healing resources.

These eight faces represent the diversity and richness of Afghanistan’s many ethnic groups, honoring the millions impacted by war. Our message: We are more than victims and Afghanistan is more than a battlefield — it is our home. The…

Residency Unlimited presents WHO IS REALLY SHARP, an exhibition of works by Julie Stavad at Gallery

With a poetic approach to the mundane, Danish artist Julie Stavad investigates the liminal state between function and value. Her sculptures contain stories of what we humans do with objects, what they do to us, and how we and they encounter each other in the universe. This new series of sculptural objects specially created for the context of the Ace Hotel Gallery operates as three-dimensional still lifes. They are composed of shoes and cutlery – everyday objects that will be…
