世界のエースホテルにて同時開催する「アーティスト・イン・レジデンス(AIR)」、日本はキュレーション・パートナーに村上隆氏が率いるカイカイキキによる新人アーティストアインキュベーションイベント「GEISAI #22」から、「エースホテル京都賞」を受賞した4名のアーティストを選出。2023年夏から2024年夏まで、各アーティストそれぞれ約3ヶ月間の展示期間を設け、作品をお披露目します。
エースホテル京都でのアーティスト第一弾 は妄想屋台プロデューサー(Shinichiro Wakita) さん。アニメーションの技法を取り入れ、忽然と現れては消える屋台の哀愁や、それをとりまく人物・動物・建物の物語を描きます。今回の展示は「京都烏丸姉小路東入ル妄想屋台通」と題し、ロビーギャラリーに在りし日の妄想屋台国家の一部を再現。当時の記録、そして復元された動く屋台。夏の終わりにノスタルジックで怪しげな妄想屋台の世界へ、いざ。
作品展示期間：2023年8月21日(月)〜10月30日(月)

Artist In Residence Exhibition | On view August 20–October 30, 2023   In partnership with GEISAI, we invited MOUSO-YATAI Producer to warm the house as our inaugural Artist In Residence. Influenced by animation techniques, MOUSO-YATAI Producer’s work spans various motifs including characters, animals, buildings and the food stalls which appear and disappear around the city without a trace, leaving behind their melancholy memory.    Join us for the opening reception on August 25 from 18:00–19:00 in our Lobby gallery.

A!R Opening with Emma Kohlmann | A Chained Heart to a Star at Lobby

We’re excited to welcome Emma Kohlmann as our second Artist in Residence (A!R) at Ace Kyoto. On her inaugural visit to the city, Kohlmann will adorn our gallery walls with expansive watercolors inspired by Kyoto’s hues and essence. Using magnets to mount her work, the mural will transform daily, offering an evolving, immersive reflection of Kyoto.
