Hosted by BLAKE founder Blake MacKay, Reservations is a…what’s a less boring way of saying “panel series”? For now, it’s a panel series asking big, thorny, urgent food questions that aren’t being asked—or discussed enough—in our food public square. The idea here, really, is to gather really smart folks and ask them to not sugarcoat, spin, or say what one thinks one is supposed to say in public. To push and challenge each other, to speak truths about their experiences in and around our beloved and broken food industry.

To cap Pride Month, a summer Friday Reservations double-header aiming to ask all the most incisive and important questions around queerness in food and drink: Can restaurants be genderless spaces?; What does it mean to queer a cookbook?; Are fruity cocktails the gateway to a gender-expansive drinking culture?; In the year of our lord 2023 how and why is food media still masculinizing grilling and feminizing baking!? Hosted by Blake MacKay, this is a conversation, and it’s who we are.
