Japan native Cutbird was playing keys as a part of a unique ensemble in his earlier years which led to the realization that music was his deepest passion and started an unending journey.
Cutbird naturally began DJing and releasing mixtapes in his late teens; the music of the city of Nagoya has greatly influenced his eclectic style; incorporating Jazz, Funk, Disco, Hip-Hop and House filtered indigenous, soulful island dance music.
Being raised in Nagoya during the 1990s and early 2000s was an excellent breeding ground for developing his taste of music. Since moving to New York in 2008, Cutbird has played music at numerous nightclubs, lounges, bars and live houses. As a musician he has provided productions and arrangements for many artists.
Cutbird is the first Japanese musician to be credited on the prestigious New York label Payday Records. He has had the honor of sharing the stage with Grandmaster Flash, Rakim, Nas, EPMD, Slum Village, Talib Kweli, Mr.Cheeks, Rapsody, Your Old Droog, Mach-Hommy.
As a genuine crate digger, Cutbird is also throwing a party series called “PULSE!” dedicated to all people all over the world; a vinyl utopia, sacred jam with an audiophile sound system.
Anyone who’s seen him play can attest to the pure brilliance of his art and dedication.
