Rapper and producer Pink Siifu’s mercurial talent for intersecting styles and culture can be compared to the manifestation of a tropical storm: an unchecked, energetic force of nature that hoovers up everything it encounters. He grabs from punk, ambient, free jazz, and noise music, and employs influences from Sun Ra, Bad Brains, and the late great Ras G. This week, Siifu curates the perfect blend of energetic, sun-drenched jazz sounds. One not to miss.

V.C.R is a multi-instrumentalist and recording artist that uses amalgamations of nostalgic sounds to compose audio-visual masterpieces for the listeners. Born into a musical family in Memphis Tennessee, the home of blues and soul music, she was classically trained in violin and gospel choir beginning at age five. V.C.R uses her eclectic musical background to carefully craft songs that are not only healing and one-of-kind but direct tributes to her favorite singers and composers such as Minnie Riperton, JDilla, Chaka Khan, and Tchaikovsky. The hybridization of her direct influences, gospel, soul, funk, and classical music combine to birth her own genre called cinematic soul. Her dreamy movie-like approach to her projects takes the listener on a journey through her thoughts to their own universe.
