J\u2019s practice opens a candid window into moments of unapologetic queerness, foregrounding relationships, bodies and lived experience. Their works challenge conventional depictions of queer identity, instead offering space for personal narratives shaped by love, connection and<br \/>\nbelonging. Their photographs question entrenched social norms around sexuality, gender and intimacy while celebrating the tenderness, playfulness and fluid physicality that define queer relational worlds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Artist<\/strong><br \/>\nJ Davies (Ng\u0101ti Te Awhitu, Ng\u0101ti Hau\u0101) is an Australian-born, takat\u0101pui artist living and<br \/>\ncreating on the stolen lands of the Kulin Nation in Naarm\/Melbourne, Australia. J\u2019s work has<br \/>\nbeen exhibited at Les Rencontres d\u2019Arles (France), the Hong Kong International<br \/>\nPhotography Festival, the National Gallery of Victoria for Melbourne Now, the Centre for<br \/>\nContemporary Photography, and Photo 2024. They have been an artist-in-residence at<br \/>\nCollingwood Yards, and the winner of The Midsumma Art Prize 2026. J Davies is<br \/>\nrepresented by MARS Gallery in Australia and Aotearoa\/New Zealand.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Curatorial Partner<\/strong><br \/>\nUNSW Galleries is a university art museum located in Paddington, Sydney. It presents<br \/>\nexhibitions by leading Australian and international artists and designers.
