Mixed Feelings’ Speed-Friending Night

  • 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm | Thursday February 15, 2024
  • Atrium | Ace Hotel Brooklyn
  • 252 Schermerhorn St.

On February 15th, the existentially-minded/existentially-curious newsletter and online community mixed feelings will turn the concept of “speed dating” on its head with an event that prioritizes forging the other most important relationships in our lives: friendships.

For their inaugural speed-friending event, they will curate rotating “friend dates” with conversation topics ranging from lighthearted to introspective. With an ever-growing online community, the mixed feelings team is aiming to alleviate some of the awkwardness and vulnerability that comes with making friends in person.

Afterwards, guests will have the opportunity to bedazzle candles from Joya Studios and lighters from Edie Parker Flower. (*while supplies last.)

Ticketing price includes two free drinks by Poppi, Rupi Beer, Vivanterre Wine. There will also be snacks and drinks provided by Vibes and Lesser Evil.

ABOUT:

mixed feelings is a newsletter and obsessively-online community by Condé Nast Entertainment that deals in all things existential (and, in some cases, welcome respite from that). Every other week, a different mental health expert or writer will respond to your most pressing conundrums — from whether or not you should share locations with your friends to how fashion shapes identity. Subscribe to mixed feelings, for all your multitudes.

Joya is a Design studio which specializes in hand crafted perfume, scented candles & home ambience. From Âmes Sœurs’ subterranean explorations of earth, resins and connected memories to Foxglove’s evocation of nature both wild and manicured, Joya’s perfumes and home scents dwell in the in-between and on the edge, inspired by the energy and emotion of New York and its long line of restless searchers. Joya Studio, is its vertical design studio and manufacturing wing, researches, develops and produces fragrances and scented objects.

Edie Parker is a modern accessories label where fashion meets flower, for a good time. Born out of Founder Brett Heyman’s love for mid-century style, the brand has created a coveted world of head-turning handbags and conversation-sparking, cannabis-adjacent accessories. Since inception, Edie Parker has used exceptional materials to create unique pieces with a bright sensibility and a bold spirit, that are anything but expected.

Ace Artist in Residence & Byline present -- Tomorrow's Garden by Caroline Zimbalist at Gallery

With this seminal exhibition, Tomorrow’s Garden, we glimpse through a keyhole. Behind the door is an imagined, futuristic world where the overuse of plastic melted into nature and created new species of bioplastic lifeforms. An enchanted oyster lies in the ocean with aquatic creatures and flora. A hanging abstract, bioplastic jellyfish illuminates an underwater world, a forest where hybrid amphibians and fairies tend to the changed planet. Caroline questions what the future can look like in a world where nature…
