EVERYWHERE WORKSHOP: Knitting circle with Holly Richwine of Knitbody

  • 11:00 am - 2:00 pm | Saturday October 02, 2021
  • | Ace Hotel New York

Swatching is an integral part of a knitter’s process. A way of testing materials, swatching is the first step in any project and a way to see how yarns, with variable gauges and stitchwork, will behave as one. These initial samples become small remnants and material memories, a symbol of something forthcoming.

With a mountain of swatches on every knitter’s hands, the swatch tee practice came about in an effort to re-use these samples, functionally adorning the garments we already own. In this workshop, you will be encouraged to bring a piece of clothing that needs reviving of any sort.

Open to knitters of all varieties and skill levels, we will approach swatching as an invitation to play with materials and extend these experiments into adornment and repair. All things necessary—yarn, needles, and extra garments—will be provided.
