Our series, “Shorts In Conversation,” makes a moment for cinema and dialogue. We invite an organization to curate a showing of films alongside their makers, followed by the directors in dialogue about their craft. We begin our partnership with the8fest.

the8fest is a festival for anyone using small-gauge to create rough little gems on film. A unique Toronto-based film festival that presents all forms of small-gauge film: 8mm, Super 8 and 9.5mm, as well as works in installation, loops, personal, handmade, experimental, animations, diaries, essays, collage, cut-ups, performance/film, music/film and ‘proto-cinema devices’ like zoetropes.

The following will be shown:  The Return dir. Louise Noguchi (2023); Cerca De Ti dir. Kourtney Jackson (2023); summer in the bahçe dir. Alize Zorlutuna (2023) and Portal dir. Lina Wu (2023).

Our series, “Shorts In Conversation,” makes a moment for cinema and dialogue. We invite an organization to curate a showing of films alongside their makers, followed by the directors in dialogue about their craft.      As part of the A!R program at Ace Toronto, we invite A!R partner, Images Festival to curate the program with the respective artist in Resident. This iteration will feature work by Alize Zorlutuna, Nisha Duggal, Peng Zuqiang, Zinnia Naqvi and Natalie Wood.
