L’IMPRIMÉ BLEU FRAIS by François Boudreaux | Artist In Residence Gallery Opening Reception

François Boudreaux is a New Orleans-born and based multidisciplinary designer, fashion instructor at Material Institute and the founder of the brand Flysón, which produces styles at the intersection of sporty and elegant.

During his Artist in Residence stay, François will continue textile work for his collection “L’IMPRIMÉ BLEU FRAIS,” which explores the unparalleled lineage of cultural contributions by African Americans in the American South over the past 400 years. This exhibition is a part of our year-long partnership with @materialinstitute.

François’ exhibition at Ace Hotel New Orleans Gallery is on view from August 5, 2023 through October 2023.

Ace Artist in Residence is the embodiment of our deep conviction that artists deliver us a critical lens through which to understand the world and ourselves. Through the program, we invite four artists for extended stays over the course of the year, turning their rooms into a studio space then showcasing their work with the community.

Ace Hotel New Orleans is partnering with Material Institute to co-curate the lineup of participating artists. The nonprofit arts center and free education space in New Orleans’ Ninth Ward provides resources to a new generation of homegrown artists working in music, fashion and community gardening.
