Growing up with her parents’ jazz and bossa nova records, Gabrielle (a.k.a. Gia) naturally cultivated a love for music early on in life. As a teenager, Gia got her start in the local scene by promoting bands in Orange County and hosting a radio show on global online platform Radio23. Gia has DJ’d and curated various events throughout Los Angeles with the now inactive DJ + arts collective Honey Power, as well as a live music series under the name Dream Wave, which leaned toward the realm of shoegaze, post-punk, and synth pop. She continues to DJ and produce events independently and on occasion with Starcrossed (a DJ duo that she and her long-time friend Raymond a.k.a. Romancer started together in 2021). Her style reflects her eclectic music taste, ranging from ambient, darkwave, dreampop, shoegaze, post-punk, minimal electronic, IDM, international disco, city pop, house, and more. Gia has contributed guest mixes for radio platforms such as DUBLAB, KCHUNG, and NTS. She also hosted a weekly show on 88.9 FM KXLU from 2017-2019 called Innerspace. In addition, she has shared bills with the likes of DIIV, Jessica Pratt, Sky Ferreira, The Drums, Woods, The Fresh & Onlys, La Luz, Cherry Glazerr, Be Forest, Fool’s Gold, Julianna Barwick, VUM, Crown Plaza, Tashaki Miyaki, Allah Las, Prince Rama, Gothic Tropic, Fabiano do Nascimento, Sam Gendel, and more.
