Efficient Space presents an intimate evening with Los Angeles-based pianist, producer and composer John Carroll Kirby at Ace Hotel Sydney on Saturday 1 April 2023.
While revitalising the career of low-key R&B legend Eddie Chacon, collaborating with Laraaji and emotionally elevating widescreen studio moments from Steve Lacy, Harry Styles, Frank Ocean and Solange with his virtuosic ivory touches, it’s Kirby’s distinctive and ever-expanding solo catalogue that demands close inspection. Releasing on Stones Throw, Patience and Leaving, he’s proliferated 7 albums and an original motion picture soundtrack since 2017, astonishing the initiated with longform modern classical expressions, intuitive new age dance and jazz fusion suites that rival the style’s all-time greats.
Kirby’s magnetic showmanship and breathtaking performance will take centre stage of the Ace Hotel Sydney lobby on Saturday 1 April 2023, with selections from Efficient Space label head Noise In My Head. 8PM-late. Free entry.
