Purple Rain
7PM Doors | 8PM Show
Purple Rain, which premiered in 1984, is the loosely autobiographical film centered about the Kid (Prince, in his acting debut) as an up and coming Minneapolis musician and his band the Revolution. The film follows the artist as he battles family demons, an ongoing rivalry in the form of Morris Day & The Time, and a rocky romantic relationship with singer Apollonia (Apollonia Kotero).
The film is Rated R.
Prince’s iconic film, Purple Rain, will be shown at downtown Los Angeles venue The Theatre at Ace Hotel, in conjunction with what would have been the legendary musician’s 65th birthday, June 7, 2023. Guests are encouraged to dress in their favorite era of Prince fashion and sip on a purple cocktail while enjoying Prince’s first film.
Make a pre-show reservation at LOAM, conveniently located next door.
The celebration continues after the film Upstairs, where DJs will be spinning Prince tunes all night.
