About Satori

As a musician, performer and label head Satori is a multifaceted artist of the purist kind, effortlessly combining all aspects of artistry into a persona capable of creating truly unique experiences for his audience. Being the child of a Serbian father and a South African mother, Satori has been consuming Balkan music as well as Afrobeat and everything in between from an early age, embedding diversity into his musical DNA. Pulling inspiration from a wide array of cultures has led Satori, born Djordje Petrovic, to push the boundaries of what electronic music can sound like, creating an otherworldly, distinctive style unmatched by any of his contemporaries.

After breaking onto the scene in 2015 with his In Between Worlds album, Satori has been steadily expanding on an impressive repertoire of music, culminating into the recently released Dreamin’ Colours album. An ethereal body of work rich in colour and texture, seamlessly blending electronic music with Satori’s Balkan heritage. Not long after, July 1st marked the launch of Maktub Records with Satori’s most recent single ‘Djelem Djelem’. ‘Djelem Djelem’ is an exclusive collaboration with EXIT Festival and the inaugural release on Satori’s very own imprint. Later in 2022, Satori is also expected to release his first music in collaboration with The Band from Space on the label.

Never limiting himself to being “just a DJ”, Satori has perfected the craft of live performance. Often combining his own productions with improvisation by incorporating traditional instruments like the guitar, keys or flute. Treating each performance as a blank canvas is what makes Satori’s shows dynamic and eclectic, leaving fans with an ever-lasting taste for more. This unique approach has led Satori to become a mainstay on festival line-ups globally, from Coachella to EXIT Festival in Serbia as well as long-standing residencies on Ibiza. In 2022, Satori will be helming a brand new event concept, ‘A Starry Night’ at Club Chinois, one the latest additions to Ibiza’s bustling club scene. Described as an immerse, genre-defying experience, A Starry Night is poised to be one of the White Isle’s must-see events of the summer.

In contrast to popular belief about the electronic dance music scene, Satori has a vastly different perspective on how life as a traveling artist should be lived. A rigorous combination of exercise, yoga, meditation and sleep make up his daily regime and it is this devotion to mind and body that allows Satori to be on top of his game at all times. A state of mind that Satori credits his success to and a requirement to perform at the creative level he does.
