Fashion Fiction presents The Cultures of Perfume at Ace Hotel Brooklyn

RSVP Here

Join Fashion Fiction, Ace Hotel Brooklyn and ARTBOOK | D.A.P. for an evening celebrating The Cultures of Perfume: Scents that Shaped History by Saskia Wilson-Brown, founder and Executive Director of the Institute for Art and Olfaction, in partnership with Serviette.

Structured around 36 distinct scent notes, Wilson-Brown’s book traces perfume through material, cultural and social histories — moving through themes including earth, smoke and fire, water, plants, seduction, magic, religion, power and trade. Along the way, materials including jasmine, leather, tobacco, bergamot, frankincense, musk and ambergris become entry points into larger stories about how humans have used, understood and imagined scent.

For this special Fashion Fiction edition, invited readers will each respond to a chapter or material from the book through a short reading, featuring Jordan Kisner, Taylore Scarabelli, Brendon Holder, Marlowe Granados, Heather McCalden, and Becca Rothfeld, with Saskia Wilson-Brown.

Alongside the readings, Serviette will create a scent installation inspired by the book. Guests will be invited to smell a selection of fragrance materials, with each material connected back to both the book and Serviette’s fragrances.

A selection of specialty cocktails inspired by the evening will also be available from the Ace Hotel Brooklyn bar.

Copies of The Cultures of Perfume and a selection of Serviette fragrances will be available to purchase at the event on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last.

Presented by Fashion Fiction and Ace Hotel Brooklyn in partnership with ARTBOOK | D.A.P. and Serviette.

Doors at 6:30 PM

Readings begin at 7 PM

Admission is free with RSVP. RSVP is encouraged, but doesn’t guarantee entry.
