Sydney FAQs
Getting to Ace
We are located at 47 – 53 Wentworth Ave, Sydney, NSW 2000, Australia
We don’t have onsite parking, however we do recommend a parking garage in the area. This is Secure Parking – Goulburn Street Car Park, and Ace Hotel guests are offered a special rate of $50 per 24-hour period at this garage.
To secure the Ace rate, take an entry coupon from the garage, bring it to the front desk and the team will be able to help with payment and validation. Bookings are not possible through the hotel, and bookings made directly with the garage will not be eligible for the special Ace negotiated rate. If you are staying over on a Saturday, it’s worth noting Secure Parking offers a weekend rate of $14 per day which may be paid directly at the garage.
Secure Parking – Goulburn Street Car Park is located at 101 Goulburn Street. The maximum clearance is 1.95m (6’4″). Though Goulburn Street is a two-way street, entry to the garage may only be gained by turning left from the west-bound lanes.

Neighborhood & Location
We’re located on the cusp of Surry Hills and Sydney’s CBD at 47-53 Wentworth Avenue. Surry Hills is one of Sydney’s most vibrant neighborhoods, known for its tree-lined streets, independent cafes, award-winning restaurants, boutique shops, and thriving arts scene. This location gives you the best of both worlds—the energy of Sydney’s Central Business District and the character of one of the city’s coolest inner-city neighborhoods.
Ace Hotel Sydney is built on the site of Tyne House, a historic brick factory constructed in 1916 and considered one of the first ceramic kilns in Australia. The building later served as the factory and distribution center for Washington H. Soul Pattinson Chemists. Melbourne-based Flack Studio transformed the entire 18-storey building, preserving the historic façade while creating contemporary interiors inspired by the colors of the Australian desert. You’ll see this heritage reflected in details like the ochre-red marble staircase and throughout our design.
You’re in an ideal location to explore Sydney. Within walking distance: Central Station (8 minutes), Hyde Park, the Australian Museum, Chinatown, dozens of Surry Hills’ best restaurants and bars along Crown Street and Bourke Street, independent shops, and galleries. The Sydney Opera House is about 2.5km away, Darling Harbour is nearby, and Bondi Beach is a short drive or bus ride. The neighborhood around you buzzes with cafes like Single O, restaurants like Nomad and Chin Chin, and wine bars like Poly.
We’re centrally positioned with easy access to Sydney’s highlights. Sydney Opera House is about 6km (15-20 minutes by taxi/Uber), Bondi Beach is about 8km (20-25 minutes), Darling Harbour is 2km (15-minute walk), and Hyde Park Barracks Museum is just 0.7 miles away. Central Station is an 8-minute walk, connecting you to trains throughout Sydney and beyond. You’re also close to the airport—Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport is about 8km (15-20 minutes by taxi).
Central Station is just an 8-minute walk, giving you access to trains, light rail, and buses throughout Sydney. We also offer complimentary bicycles for hotel guests—Sydney has excellent cycling routes, especially along the harbor and through parks. Taxis and rideshares are readily available. For exploring Surry Hills and the CBD, walking is ideal—many of the area’s best cafes, restaurants, and shops are within a 10-15 minute stroll.
Absolutely! Surry Hills is consistently rated as one of Sydney’s best neighborhoods. It’s known for its creative community, excellent dining scene (from casual cafes to award-winning restaurants), independent boutiques, street art, and village atmosphere. The neighborhood attracts locals and visitors alike for its authenticity and walkability. You’ll find a mix of historic terrace houses, modern developments, and cultural venues—all while being steps from Sydney’s CBD.
What Makes Us Different
Ace Hotel Sydney is the brand’s first Southern Hemisphere location, bringing Seattle’s creative hospitality ethos to Australia. We’ve transformed a historic 1916 brick factory into a contemporary 18-storey cultural hub that honors Australian craft, art, and design. Every room features a guitar, vinyl collection with turntable, and custom robes by Australian brand Deiji Studios. Our public spaces showcase works by Aboriginal artists including Tony Albert, alongside pieces by Ramesh Mario Nithiyendran and Nadia Hernández. We’re not just a hotel—we’re a gathering place for Sydney’s creative community, with award-winning restaurants, live music, art installations, and a lobby that’s as popular with locals as it is with guests.
Yes, Australian creativity is woven throughout the hotel. Flack Studio, one of Melbourne’s most acclaimed design firms, created the interiors using colors inspired by the Australian desert. We feature prominent works by Aboriginal artists like Tony Albert in our public spaces. Australian brand Deiji Studios designed our custom robes. Local makers and artisans are represented in our retail offerings. Mike Bennie, a key figure in Australia’s drinks scene, curated our beverage program. We’re committed to celebrating and supporting Australian talent.
Yes! We regularly host live music, DJ sets, art exhibitions, talks, and community events. The Lobby Bar becomes a vibrant gathering space in the evenings with regular programming that ends around 10pm (the solid building structure ensures minimal sound transmission to rooms). Our spaces have become meeting points for Sydney’s creative community—from freelancers working during the day to locals enjoying evening cocktails. Check our events calendar or ask the front desk about what’s happening during your stay.
We’re all about community, creativity, and connection. The hotel attracts a mix of international travelers, local creatives, business professionals, and neighborhood regulars. You’ll find people working on laptops in the lobby during the day, friends gathering for drinks at sunset on the rooftop, and music lovers browsing vinyl in guest rooms. We’ve created spaces that encourage interaction and serendipity while still offering comfort and privacy. It’s sophisticated but never stuffy, design-forward but always welcoming.
