Efficient Space presents Trevor Jackson

Efficient Space presents an evening with London’s torch bearing audio-visual adventurer Trevor Jackson at Ace Hotel Sydney on Thursday 27 October.

Pushing the paradigm from the get-go as The Underdog, Jackson’s visionary dark blend of hip-hop, psychedelia, avant-garde electronics and dub still holds power 30 years on and saw him remix the likes of The Cure, Massive Attack, Gravediggaz and Everything But The Girl. Retiring the alias to helm Output Recordings, he broke further ground across 100 releases in 10 years, launching Four Tet, bringing DFA to the UK and proliferating his own productions as Playgroup, all while setting new aesthetic standards as a graphic artist, having designed iconic sleeves for PM Dawn, Jungle Brothers, Soulwax, Masters At Work, and LCD Soundsystem.

An NTS Radio mainstay, he shares his unrelenting thirst for new sounds monthly, typically playing up to 60 tracks in two hours and presenting absorbingly comprehensive specials on Island Records, Bristol bass, Arthur Baker and hip-hop samples. Jackson’s extensive knowledge and respect for music history has been tapped for two volumes of Metal Dance, compiling industrial, post-punk, EBM and new beat classics, and Science Fiction Dancehall Classics, his selection of 4D dub riddims released by seminal label On-U Sound.
