Welcome to Ace Hotel Sydney. This is our very first spot south of the equator and we’re happy to show you around. Ace Sydney is settled within the reanimated, century-old Tyne Building, site of the country’s first brick kiln. We are nestled against the edge of the CBD in Surry Hills, a neighbourhood with a rich ‘n’ rough legacy of cultural reinvention, from the landmark Gay Solidarity Group protests of the 1970s to the razor gang wars of the 1920s and ’30s. In between our rooftop restaurant, Kiln, and our lobby-level cafe and bar, Good Chemistry, you’ll find everything you need right here, but we’re also connected to pretty much anywhere you’d want to go.
You are within walking distance of Hyde Park and the CBD, Darlinghurst and Redfern, and just a moment away from Central Station, with railways up and down NSW. Throughout Surry Hills, you’ll find vintage sellers, streetwear stores, handmade ceramics, book dealers and record shops. We’ve also got bikes for getting to these places or for just cruising.
We’re on the Internet too. To stay abreast of our collaborations, artist interviews and random things we like, follow us at reader.acehotel.com. For breadcrumb trails to events, videos, pictures and gems culled from Internet k-holes, you can find us at @acehotel on Instagram and Twitter. And if you’re already feeling tired and want us to just send all this stuff directly to you from time to time, you can join the A-List. It’s an online leaflet to keep you up-to-date on all our latest projects, ideas, gatherings, recipes and dreams. Sign up at acehotel.com/alist. Our shop is online at shop.acehotel.com and at the front desk — you’ll find the same blankets and robes as in your room, plus some other stuff we like too. Say hi at @acehotelshop.
We’re glad you’re here.

— KILN —
Our rooftop restaurant is helmed by Chef-Partner Mitch Orr, who brings his rollicking imagination and cross-pollinating, genre-bending cooking style to Kiln’s take on Australiana.
Situated along our Foy Lane entrance is Good Chemistry, a day-to-night cafe and bar housed in a former chemist’s and offering an airy space to enjoy a morning coffee or to gather with friends for a glass as evening approaches. Good Chemistry serves Mecca Coffee and Tea Craft, as well as draught beer and wine, and a concise menu of breakfast bites and all-day snacks.
— LOAM —
Leafy greens, flavorful fruits, rich vegetables, steak, chicken, wine, burgers, beer — LOAM serves up essential elements that breathe life into all pleasures. Sister in name and spirit to our DTLA restaurant, LOAM is about staying connected to what matters and serving up the best ingredients for a better product.
— LOBBY BAR —
The Lobby offers craft cocktails, wines by the glass and beer, in addition to snacks and shareable small plates. Our friend Mike Bennie of P&V Wine + Liquor Merchants helped us put together the menu.
— MECCA COFFEE —
We proudly serve Mecca Coffee at Good Chemistry, LOAM and Kiln. Mecca is a Sydney–based coffee purveyor committed to sourcing, roasting and brewing the best coffees available anywhere. They have close partnerships with farmers and believe that working together year after year results in the highest level of quality. Mecca has exceptional standards for consistently simple and exquisite coffee.
You can buy some things down in the Lobby or right out of your room, like our exclusive robe collab with Deiji Studios and Jason Phu, just by taking them with you — we’ll charge it after you check out. We’ve also got an online shop where you can find many of our exclusive products and collaborations, and just some stuff we think is cool. And if you miss any of the other Aces, you can find souvenirs you forgot to buy when you were there. Dreaming of Brooklyn or New Orleans? Visit the shop at SHOP.ACEHOTEL.COM or lurk @acehotelshop.
We frequently host events right here at home, from DJs to parties and live bands. Find out what’s going on while you’re here by visiting our events page or by calling the front desk.
If you want to have your own event here, we don’t blame you. Here’s some more info about our spaces. If (and when) you fall in love with one of them, get in touch.
We love having weddings here. They’re always different. You get a really big space and you can make it your own. And we’ll give you a friendly rate so everybody can stay together.
Here’s more about our other hotels. They are all pet- and kid-friendly, serve good food and coffee. We’re one big family, and each Ace Hotel is unique, a product of its neighborhood, building, friends and history.
Ace Hotel New York is in a historical landmark building that originally opened in 1904 as the Hotel Breslin, located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, close to the Theater and Flatiron Districts, and Madison Square Park. We tried to preserve as many original features and details as possible — like the lobby’s ornate coffered ceilings and mosaic tile floors — in hopes of celebrating its history, and we worked with Roman and Williams to bring new personality to the space, with vintage and custom furniture, and things we’re not even sure how we pulled off, like the entire library we lifted from a Park Avenue apartment to make our lobby bar, and the light fixtures made with glass from the Hubble telescope.

Ace Hotel and Swim Club is located in a reinvented Howard Johnson at the foot of the San Jacintos. The 176-room hotel, spa and resort is within biking distance of downtown and close to cool stuff like Joshua Tree, all kinds of historic desert modern architecture and tons of great vintage shopping. It’s also the best place in Palm Springs to get a laid-back massage or natural treatment at the Feel Good Spa, or to see one of the many DJs, live musicians and big personalities that come visit us.

Our first hotel ever, Ace Hotel Seattle is near and dear to our hearts. Built in a historic boarding house in Belltown, we’re at the heart of Seattle’s art and music scene, near the waterfront and Pike Place Market (where they throw the fish). Minimalist iterations of Northwestern themes fill the lobby and guest rooms, and the common spaces include a study and breakfast nook with a do-it-yourself waffle iron (waffle dough included). Small but mighty, Ace Seattle is famous among dozens, and well-loved among its friends.

— ACE HOTEL KYOTO —
Ace Hotel Kyoto was created in partnership with legendary architect Kengo Kuma and longtime collaborators Commune Design. It’s a place of honest dialogue with the city’s past and future legends, and Ace Hotel’s first outpost in Asia. We’re a stone’s throw from contemporary cultural treasures like the Nishiki Market, the Museum of Kyoto and Kyoto Art Center, and just steps away from Kamesuehiro, the iconic 200-year old confectionery. Part of the Shinpuhkan development, we’re in the middle of a vibrant marketplace filled with shops and cafes.

Ace Hotel Brooklyn belongs to Boerum Hill, on the cusp of Downtown Brooklyn — a block from the Hoyt-Schermerhorn Station, at the ever-evolving intersection of everything. The latest chapter in Ace’s long romance with New York, we built Ace Hotel Brooklyn from the ground up: every piece in service of the borough’s tireless ingenuity, made to move and breathe with the city itself.

Ace Hotel Toronto was built bottom to top in the heart of Toronto’s vital Garment District, offering a future-facing homage to the neighborhood’s industrial warehouse roots. Created in partnership with award-winning Torontonian firm Shim-Sutcliffe Architects, Ace’s first Canadian home embraces the utopian promise of Toronto as a microcosm of the world, in all its layered tension and texture — a crossroads of global culture imbued with a history of progressive, transgressive art and ideas.
