What are the details of the noma residency?
The noma residency will run four days a week — Wednesday through Saturday — from Wednesday March 15th through Saturday May 20th — a 10 week run. There will be two seatings available every day — one lunch seating, and one dinner seating.

Where is the noma residency located?
The residency is located in the main restaurant space at Ace Hotel Kyoto, on the third floor of the building.

Ace Hotel Kyoto is located at 245-2 Kurumayacho, Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto, 604-8185, Japan, in the ShinPuhKan complex.

How much does the noma meal cost, and what is included in the meal?
The Noma Kyoto menu will cost €475 EUR per person with accompanying beverage pairing of €300 EUR per person, choice of alcoholic or non-alcoholic pairing. A 10% service charge will be added to the final purchase. The menu and beverage pairing will be prepaid upon reservation (€775 EUR + 10% service charge). All prices are inclusive of Japanese consumption tax.

How can I book a reservation for the residency?
Ace Hotel Kyoto Accommodation Package
The Ace Hotel Kyoto accommodation package will be available on a first come, first served basis.  All packages will be released at the same time to provide fair and equal access to prospective diners. The accommodation package will be available here.

Are there different seating times per seating, or will everyone be seated at once? How long is each seating?
There will be two seatings per day: Lunch and Dinner. There will be one seating per meal period, with both Lunch and Dinner offering the same menu. Guests who book via Ace Hotel Kyoto will be seated at 12:30pm for Lunch, and 6:30pm for Dinner. The meal will last for approximately 2-3 hours.

What does the Ace Hotel Kyoto room package include?
The Ace Hotel Kyoto room package is an accommodation package that comes with a minimum 2 night stay in a Deluxe King room, as well as access to book 2 seats at the noma residency. All seats booked via the Ace Hotel Kyoto room package will be seated at communal tables. The communal tables seat up to 12 guests.

The room package also includes free daily breakfast at Mr. Maurice’s Italian, the hotel’s Italian-American osteria by award-winning chef, Marc Vetri, and an early check in of 10am and late check out of 3pm.

The price of the room package does not include the cost of the Noma Kyoto meal. The Noma Kyoto meal also needs to be prepaid, via Tock, within 3 days of booking the package. A Tock link will be sent to confirm your reservation at Noma Kyoto, from which prepayment will need to be completed within 72 hours of receiving the link.

Are children allowed?
Children over the age of 12 are allowed at the noma residency. Each child must have a seat purchased for them. Given the full menu will take between 2-3 hours to experience, please keep in mind that it may be a long period of time for younger diners.

When will I be charged for the accommodation package, and when will I be charged for the meal?
All room packages and noma reservations are prepaid. The accommodation package will be charged 24 hours after confirmation. The noma meal will need to be prepaid via Tock within 72 hours of receiving the registration link.

What is the cancellation policy for the room package?
Noma & Ace Hotel Kyoto packages booked on or after January 20, 2023 are nonrefundable and nontransferable. All noma meal reservations, including those booked via the room package, will be subject to an administrative fee of 3.5% if canceled. You cannot transfer your room reservation to another guest. All noma meal reservations, including those booked via the room package, will be subject to a 3.5% administrative fee if canceled.

What can people expect from the meal?
The multi-course tasting menu will take inspiration from noma and Rene Redzepi’s extensive travel in the Kyoto region and its neighboring areas, as well as the restaurant’s decade-long relationship with Japanese cooking and cuisine, combined with the innovation and creativity so unique to noma.

I have food allergies / dietary restrictions. Can they be accommodated?
Noma will always do their best to accommodate allergies and dietary preferences, if given advance notice. All restrictions must be notified and confirmed with the noma reservations team.

How do I travel to Japan? What are the current travel restrictions?

How do I best get to Ace Hotel Kyoto and the residency?
Kyoto is located 2 hours and 20 minutes by Shinkansen (bullet train) from Tokyo Station to Kyoto Station. From the train station, it is a 10 minute taxi ride to Ace Hotel Kyoto; or you could take the subway from Kyoto station to Karasuma-Oike station — an approximately 6 minute journey. There is direct access to Ace Hotel Kyoto from the South exit of Karasuma-Oike station.

Am I allowed to take photos or video of my meal, and can I post to social media?
You are welcome to take photos or video during your visit with a small handheld camera, without flash, and with care and consideration of other diners.

Is there a dress code?
There is no dress code to dine with Noma Kyoto. We invite you to dress as you wish.

What can you share about the design of the restaurant?
Noma is working with design studio OEO, as well as noma’s resident stylist Christine Rudolph, to create a space that reflects noma, while highlighting local crafts and artists.
